Smart Printer contains following parts:
- Star Printer - TSP143IIIL GYUS Ethernet enabled printer
- Star Printer buzzer - BU01-24-A
- Smartphone - (in this case the ZTE Majesty Pro 4.5”)
- Shapeways (custom 3D printed phone mount)
</p
- Gorilla Mounting tape (30 lb hold strength)
Assembling Printer
Step 1: Removing the plastic housing from the buzzer
- Slide metal cover off.
- Remove the plastic cover by popping off the tabs as shown below
- This exposes the buzzer inside the box, unscrew the two screws holding its place.
- Insert the buzzer onto the small metal mounting bracket and screw in place using the two screws already attached to the buzzer.
- Take the small Ferrite core and snap it. Shut around the end of the exposed cable leaving enough room to plug into printer.
You now have assembled the buzzer. The buzzer should be plugged into the back of the printer and screwed into place.
Step 2: Attach the power charging cable
-
Attach the charging power cable came with the smartphone into the USB port underneath the printer and run the cable up to the front of the printer where the phone mount is attached.
- Cut small strips of the Gorilla mounting tape and attach to the Shapeways 3D printer mount as shown in the following figure. Four total pieces are used for this step and a larger piece for the front, where the phone will mount to the Shapeways holder.
-
Run the device charging cable through the Shapeways device mount and attach mount to the front/bottom of the printer.
Note: Ensure to position the installation of the phone holder as close to the center of the printer as possible without blocking the access to the buttons.
- Take the metal printer mounting bracket and attach it to the front with the provided screws, over the end of the plastic phone mount. This will act as additional support and ensure the mount doesn’t come off.
- Take the remaining power charging cable and wrap up into the back of the printer and attach to the Printer power cable
- You can also plug in the Ethernet cable to the printer and leave that bundled up as well.
-
Open the top of the printer and insert the roll of paper into the printer paper tray, run a small section of the paper out of the top and close the door.
- Take another piece of the Gorilla mounting tape and attach to the back of the phone onto the printer/Shapeways phone mount, remove the protective tape and attach the phone to the power source and onto the phone mount.
- Ensure the phone is centered to the front of the printer.
- Take the metal printer mounting bracket and attach it to the front with the provided screws, over the end of the plastic phone mount. This will act as additional support and ensure the mount doesn’t come off.
- Slide metal cover off.
